Rudolph E. Dissie became a murderous maniac

while he stood at the door of his sweetheart's car

in front of 507 North 7th Street at 12.15 o'clock, Tuesday, July 28th, 1925 in Richmond, Virginia.

Dissie reached for his hip. Willis Britt, who sat under the wheel of the coop, started from his seat,

hoping to get around the car before the youth could shoot. While he was squirming from

beneath the wheel, Dissie shot Vivian dead and crippled Britt with a bullet in the hip.

Detective Sergeant J. Harvey Burke, who was standing by the radiator of the car, started for Dissie, reaching for his gun.

The boy sent two bullets through the officer's body, and then walked toward Brits' car,

reloading his Colt's police special.

Struggling to his elbows from where he lay on the cobblestones, Burke fired six times at the retreating figure, but Dissie walked on uninjured, reaching Brits' car and then drove down Broad Street. Dissie drove straight to Carter's Kitchen, a small restaurant at 1009 West Broad Street.

Miss Dolly Swit, cashier at the restaurant, screamed, look out, Mr. Carter, here he comes.

But the proprietor of the restaurant did not hear him.

Dissie walked to where Henry G. Carter was standing behind the counter, entering the kitchen,

which was crowded with noonday customers.

Dissie shot him down without a word.

Fired two bullets through his heart.

Miss Switt ducked behind her counter and the customers crouched beneath tables and chairs while

the guns spoke.

Carter died as he sank to the floor and in two minutes the restaurant was empty.
