So was our Lord Jesus Christ really born on December 25th. Every year in Advent, every year

around Christmas, all of the experts like to get on Newsweek and magazines and

TV and talk about how Jesus Christ, the historical Jesus of Nazareth,

probably was not born in December at all, but was probably born more in the spring

at another time of year. However, if we look at the history of the Catholic Church, we look at the

liturgical cycles, we look at the fathers about the birthday of Christ and the

tradition of Christmas, there is extremely strong evidence for Christ being born in late

December. In fact, if we look at the Gospel of St. Luke, we see that the evidence is almost overwhelming. So today

we're going to look at that historical evidence, we're going to look at the church

fathers, but before we do I want to look at the common objections. I've

isolated really three objections that people use to say that Christ was not born in late

December was not born December 25th so let's take a look at those the first objection is that the early church, the early

Catholic Church, the early popes were kind of sly and they saw a early pagan

Roman festival in December called Saturnalia and they chose to replace it with a Christian
