Summary

This week, Kate discusses her most recent pop culture obsession, the reality show Welcome to Plathville on TLC. Since she roped many of you into this mess over the holidays, she figured she’d kick off the year by kicking off her shoes and taking this toe-headed DIY failed cult of a crew in Cairo, Georgia for a deep dive. Instead of her usual in-depth style, since she got into this like 12 days ago, she shares her thoughts in the first hour and then brings in a longer-term fan of the show (and friend of this show!) Caroline Moss to sort through their complicated feelings about the characters in the second hour, given opinions on them change from season to season, scene to scene. If you can believe it, there are 40 more minutes of this episode on patreon.com/bethereinfive. When it comes to content, we, too, believe we should be fruitful and multiply. Enjoy!

I think, you know, during the sleepy time between Christmas and New Year sometimes it's nice to have a new show to binge and I love nothing more than a reality show I can binge with themes that make me cycle through how they affect my own life and think through how I'd respond and in many cases unfairly judge the characters for not responding perfectly when I most certainly would not either.
