Hi, I'm Lovar Burton and this is Lovar Burton Reads.

In every episode I hand-pick a different piece of short fiction and I read it to you.

The only thing these stories have in common is that I love them and I hope you will too.

Here we are, season three of Lovar Burton Reads and they said it wouldn't last.

I have had such an amazing time recording these stories in the studio.

I am really excited to read this story today by Rebecca Roenhorse.

Rebecca is an Okouenge, science fiction fantasy author living in northern New Mexico.

And she's another one of these multi-hyphenates who aren't content just being spectacular writers.

She's a lawyer too in her spare time.

She's also been a finalist for all of the big science fiction awards including the Hugo,

the Sturgeon Award, the Campbell Award, the Locus Award and this particular story of

hers recently won the Nebula, which is a very big deal in sci-fi circles, a very prestigious

honor.

The story is called Welcome to Your Authentic Indian Experience Trademark and it was originally

published in Apex magazine.

So the title is a bit of a hint.

It takes place in Sedona, Arizona where Native Americans lead virtual vision quests for tourists

and it's written in the second person.

So the author has placed us in the driver's seat here, put us in the shoes of our main

character.

There is a lot to think about here but you know just enjoy the ride and we'll talk more

about this at the end of the story.
