During today's conversation on back porch theology, Allie and I are discussing all things

and throw pa morphing, which is a fancy word that in the theological realm means using

human context and metaphor to describe what is divine and transcendent, in other words,

when we say things like Jesus laughed.

Well, there may not be a specific Bible verse that proves that, but if you look at the

whole of Scripture, there is proof there that our Savior was not uniformly angry or solemn,

but he expressed sheer delight.

Both within the perfect trinitarian pericoeces kind of relationship, Jesus shared with God,

the Father, and God the Spirit, as well as with us, His prone to wander people.

If you grew up like me with the wrong assumption that the Bible is an altogether somber

rulebook, and our Savior is a kind of serious, solemn kind of guy, then today's episode

might help you understand how Orthodox Christianity and the concept of a smiling Jesus are not mutually

exclusive.
