Summary

Sermon on the Mount E23 – The second half of the Lord’s prayer contains four requests on behalf of the person praying. The second personal request is for God to forgive us. But forgiveness is not just a transaction between individuals or between God and humans. Forgiveness plays a central role in the arrival of God’s Kingdom. In this episode, Jon, Tim, and Michelle explore what forgiveness is, what it isn't, and what it looks like to set each other free.

0:16.1	and in this teaching Jesus shares with us a simple prayer

0:22.2	it's prayed by Christians for the last 2,000 years.
0:25.7	The prayer has two halves. The first half is three requests on behalf of God.
0:31.2	May your name be considered holy. May your kingdom come. May your name be considered holy.
0:33.0	May your kingdom come.
0:34.4	May your will be done.
0:35.4	Now these three requests put us at the center of the story of the Hebrew Bible.
0:40.2	God wants to bring blessing to the whole world through us.
0:43.4	He wants us to live in right relationship with each other,
0:46.8	and he wants us all to share in the abundance of creation.
0:50.8	That is what it means for his kingdom to come and his will to be done.
