My name is Eileen Kazarian, and I am a 23-year-old Los Angeles native.

I find myself at a really interesting time in my life.

I graduated from Arts Center College of Design in December of 2013 from the illustration department.

And now I'm working in the music industry as a graphic designer and creative director.

When Aline emails me, it's 2015.

Barack Obama is still president.

Bruno Mars, Uptown Funk is number one on the charts.

And Aline is holding her degree from a prestigious art college right outside of Los Angeles.

Her dreams are coming into focus.

She wants to merge her love for music and art.

She wants to be a creative director, helping musicians with their visuals, with their album covers.

But as her career goals are coming into focus, life at home is becoming more blurry.

My parents got divorced after a 20-year marriage, and it was messy.

I was never close with my father growing up,

so I had to navigate through school

and this life-changing experience that was happening with my mom.

My mom and I alone had to sell our large house in Burbank,

repay loans that my father had built up,

and then find a new place to live.

We spent a week living in a hotel, which ended up being difficult to continue that my father had built up, and then find a new place to live.
