Good afternoon. It's my pleasure as the Director of Cells to welcome you to this second event.

First of the main series of lunchtime talks that we'll have to the next few weeks. It's a very great pleasure to welcome

back Eleus Pervento, who was a mainstay of the faculty for many years, being at Murray Edwards'

New Orleans, as it then was, from 2000 to

2004, and then she became a professor up in Durham and is now enjoying Italy, returned to her native country.

And she's an expert, really is an expert,

has been for very, very many years,

on free movement of persons in the EU law.

And it's a great pleasure to have you talk to us

about the issues of free movement of persons as they interact with

Brexit. Eleanor will give, no doubt, give us a very good talk, but I think there will be lots

of questions that you will have, and hopefully we'll have an opportunity for you to oppose

those questions to one of the renowned national...

I think you're still an expert in the UK on that subject, if you've departed slightly

but anyway, thank you very much indeed for coming out.

And for me it's very emotional to be back because this is not only where I started my academic career

and it was a wonderful start that served me really very well and John who was one of my and of course of the European law. But also, this is where I discovered the European law because I came to do the LLN here.

But I'm not very well because otherwise you realize how old I am.

And, you know, I was in Italy, I applied to come.

I got in and I had never done European law before.
