Well, hi, everybody. Welcome to Hot Mike. I'm your co-host. Bill Whittle. Hot Mike isn't with us today. It's not his fault this time. I sent him to go and plow the back 40 because, to be perfectly honest with you, he's kind of turning into a big sissy. So we'll let him back when he man's up a little bit. This episode is entitled Why Autopenn matters, why it's important.

0:22.0

It's not a trivial thing.

0:23.5

It's being made to be a trivial thing.

0:32.6

Donald Trump has declared void a number of the pardons, 8,000 acts of clemency that were written and authorized by Joe Biden.

0:38.3

And as usual, the mainstream media is dogpiling in defense of the Democrats. And the defense is that, well, Republicans use them too.

0:41.3

Absolutely true.

0:43.3

But in order to really understand why this is a big issue, not just something trivial,

0:47.3

and in fact, indicative of an even larger constitutional issue, we got to break this one down to basics.

0:53.3

So strap in, here we go. So first

0:55.3

things first, what is an auto pen? Well, an auto pen is something that reproduces a person's

1:00.3

signature. It's actually very simple. It's a pen that's attached to a couple of different levers,

1:04.6

and there are sensors in the levers. And so when you sign your name with the auto pen, the pen is measuring the position

1:11.8

of where the point of that pen is. It's measuring its position in space. It's also measuring its

1:15.8

acceleration. And once it records those things, it will simply play back those motions and those

1:21.7

accelerations and reproduce the person's signature with a high degree of accuracy. So this gets us to the bottom of the

1:29.3

base core issues, and that is why do we sign things in the first place? What is a signature?

1:35.9

Well, before people could spell, they would be asked to make their mark. Usually in the movies

1:39.7

that somebody puts an X, but I have no doubt that people had somewhat elaborate marks,

1:43.5

even though they couldn't actually spell. And the reason you would ask somebody to sign something or to make their mark

1:48.7

is to show that they were a party to an agreement. It is essentially, and this is an important

1:56.2

thing to keep in mind during this little discussion today, your signature is a receipt.

2:02.0

It's a receipt that says that you were, in fact, a party to this agreement,
