continuing our series on Lent and Easter, the seasons in the church calendar where we reflect on our sin,

practice repentance, and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

and look forward to our own resurrection.

Today we're talking about Palm Sunday, the day in the church calendar where we remember

Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem, the day he rode into the city on a donkey, as crowds

laid down their cloaks and waved palm branches and said,

Hosanna, blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

This is also the first day of Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter when we remember the events that led up to Jesus' death,

his trial, his crucifixion, the day he remained dead in the tomb, and the day of his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

In this episode, we'll talk about why we celebrate Palm Sunday. Of all the events leading up to Jesus' death and resurrection, why do we remember this one with its own special day on the calendar? Why do many churches choose to use our

bodies to help us remember this day? Standing outside our churches, waving palm branches,

communally telling the story of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem. Our guest today will show us the

historical significance of the palm branches, but don't miss what's most important

here. That this moment in Jesus' life not only gives us details about what happened before he died,

this moment teaches us something crucial about the kind of king Jesus is and the kind of victory

he has won for us.
