You're not going to be able to pass Medicare for all with the way that our current political system is designed

because you have progressive Democrats who are for it on the record, you know, like the Bernie crew.

And as you can tell, I'm for this.

You have moderate Democrats who are for some version of it, maybe not really push comes to shove.

And what happened in California is the moderate Democrats spiked it.

The moderate Democrats had, which is by the way the bulk of the legislators, the moderate Democrats.

But there's a lot of corporate money.

And they said, so if you're a healthcare provider, you're looking at this being like, well, by and large,

I'm making a ton of money off of the folks that have no choice but to pay.

And I'm avoiding having to cover people that are struggling.

Who are we going to, by the way, going to be more costly for me and can't pay.

So that's a drag.

So let me just avoid that entire population.

So they managed to spike it.

Now, what happened in California would happen nationally.

And so if you are a progressive who wants universal healthcare, your first vision is like,

maybe we'll just take control of the Democratic Party and Democrats will pass it.

And you have to look and say, like California, two thirds of the legislature is Democrats.

They got all the debt.

They did not pass it.

So with that as your backdrop, I'm going to suggest that the only way that we're going to get

something like universal healthcare passed is if you don't have this two-party system,
