Summary

As the capital of Texas celebrates the coming of a new year with exuberance, a dark shadow eclipses the city as an unknown killer stalks the streets. A Black woman working as a servant to a rich white Austinite is murdered, and her boyfriend barely survives. In a city rife with violence, the brutality of the killing shakes up its citizens. And the terror has only just begun.

0:56.2	It's a Friday night in Austin, Texas. I'm meeting my coworker and my professor at the flagship Whole Foods at the edge of Austin's crowded 6th Street
1:00.4	for a tour about murder. The air is still, but 6th Street isn't. Cars fly by and music
1:07.0	pours out of the bars and restaurants in Austin's busiest entertainment district.
1:11.0	Around a dozen people wait on the street corner gathered in a semi-circle around a tour guide.
1:16.6	We're about to travel back in time to an America's first and own serial killer targeted African-American

1:22.0	And it all started where I'm standing right now.
1:25.0	As a black woman myself it feels inconceivable to be standing in the same spot

1:48.5	CEO and janitor of Walking Tours of Austin, this is what I do. As I stand on the street corner, I listen to jumping a picture of Molly Smith's servants quarters.
