Hi Joe. Hi, I would ask you how you're doing,

but when you ask people how you're doing nowadays,

there's just, you're inviting too much anxiety into the conversation almost immediately.

You know, I heard at the beginning of the pandemic someone say you should ask people how you're doing today instead of a global how are you doing I

really like that I've been trying to institute it so I'll ask you how are you doing

today yeah and even how are you doing right now? Sure. And how am I doing right now? You know, I'm happy to be here talking to you Emily Jane Fox because I feel like when we get together we work through a lot of of what's bothering us and what's bubbling

to the surface I don't want to call it like therapy because we're news people

okay that's good it's news therapy in its own way and I think it's good, you know, this week,

I have been thinking back to how it felt the day after Donald Trump was elected in 2016.

And so much of what has happened was what we feared, right? I mean, some people said you didn't have to fear, we

wondered about what could happen, but so much of what was feared has come true.

And no more was that that was completely evident to me while watching the

Ruth Bader Ginsburg documentary I watched you this on Friday night you guys watched it this week we watched it this weekend I watched you watch it with your

daughters there I did and

It's both incredibly inspiring powerful reminder of what's at stake in our electoral politics,

but it was also a reminder of what was at stake all along and that we knew all along was at stake.

So now we're at this like unimaginable historical cliff in which, you know, the right wants

to finally achieve its decades long goal of

closing down women's rights right we know this it's like kind of the writing is now

on the wall and I guess the thing that really stuck out at me about the documentary, the notorious
