Hello and welcome to a women's football show exclusive, looking at the career and influence of one of England's secret weapons, Dawn Scott. Dawn was born in South Shields. She helped the USA win two World Cups and has come back home to help England,

fingers crossed, do the same.

Coming up in the show, we'll meet Dawn and hear from some of those who credit much of their

success to the now lionesses not-so-secret weapon.

First up, though, what brought the sports scientist back to the FA?

Being in America two months short of 10 years, and you know, you kind of travel in 150 days pretty much every single year.

So it is kind of intense.

I mean, it was probably the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life for those 10 years because you're with the players for that amount of time, you know, every year. They're kind of like your second family. But, you know,

after the World Cup, I had a couple of, you know, discussions with US soccer. I've kind of been doing

kind of a similar role for that 10-year period and, you know, just wanted to expand a bit bit, maybe have a bit more, say, across the youth teams and apply some of the work we've done with the seniors across the youth teams. And it was just kind of apparent that that role wasn't going to exist. And then round about the same time, the FA reached out. Now, I think it was also an exciting opportunity to be part of something here special to build and hopefully win something with England.

The minute you walked in or you got into that environment, was it completely different?

Was it worlds apart from what you'd known under Hope Powell?

Like yes and no, again I think when I started with Hope, which was way back in 2001,

you know, there was no sports science support. I was at that first camp thinking, well,
