States are currently drafting plans to roll out the vaccine first to essential workers and those most at risk.

Never before has the vaccine for a pathogen been developed and approved for public use as rapidly as the COVID-19 vaccine.

To discuss what we can expect from the vaccine and its pending rollout,

we're bringing back a guess we had on way back in March in the early days of the outbreak.

Bruce Gell is the president of Global Immunization at the Sabin Vaccine Institute in Washington, D.C.

Before he joined Sabin, Gellin was director of the National Vaccine Program Office at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

And in 2005, he led the creation of HHS's first pandemic influenza preparedness and response plan.
