James 517 tells us that Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are.

He lived and served God under a wicked king, and yet, in spite of the wickedness around him,

he was a man who not only walked with

God he had the power of God on his life in this study a man like us in times like

ours Scott Paulie will share encouragement from the life of Elijah that will help

us make a difference for Christ in our generation.

Every generation must come to know God for itself, and every individual must make their own

choice. That's why Joshua said, choose you this day whom you will serve,

whether the gods that your father served

that were on the other side of the flood

or the gods of the Amorites

and under this land you dwell,

but as for me and my house,

we will serve the Lord.

Well, there are echoes of that

found again in 1st Kings chapter 18 as Elijah begins

his very public ministry on the top of Mount Carmel.

I've stood on top of Mount Carmel.

Actually, we stood there with a group of thankful saints of the Lord and prayed.

And what a sweet prayer meeting we had.

And I remembered this portion of scripture as Elijah called down fire from heaven

and called on the people to return to the Lord.
