He was finishing up a fiery sermon on self-control. He said with great passion, if I had all the

beer in the world, I would throw it into the river. With a greater fervor, he said, if I had all

the wine in the world, I would throw it into the river, almost to the top of his lungs. If I had all

the whiskey in the world, I would throw it into the river.

Today I will be taught the word of God. I boldly confess, my mind is alert, my heart is receptive.

look permanent in our health, our relationships, our career. It's easy to think that that's the

way it's always going to be. I'll always struggle with this addiction. I'll always have to deal with

this depression. I'll always be at this same level.

I'll never break out of the rut, do something great. But just because it seems permanent to us
