He was always there talking to Jay, very tall, very cool, holding it down to the studio. I don't think I ever interviewed him about Jay back then

because most of the time we interview recording artists, producers, maybe executives. We hardly ever talk to engineers. But what a mistake.

Recording engineers tend to be really smart, they have a really interesting relationship with music,

they know what's going on, they know where all the bodies are buried.

Young Guru is known for being Jay-Z's engineer, but he's also just one of the best engineers in all of modern music.

He's a brilliant guy who's really interesting to talk to and he knows so much about music, technology, celebrities, people, everything.
