Jimmy Townsend ////// 838 Part 1 of 1 www.TrueCrimeGarage.com If there ever was a boy who was a living legend in his neck of the woods, well for West Monroe, Louisiana in the early 1980’s it was Jimmy Townsend. Jimmy was smart, talented, good looking, and liked by all. He was known in West Monroe for his athleticism and the ability to carry his youth sports teams to success. It was thought that Jimmy would most certainly someday take his talents to the Majors. Jimmy as it seemed was destined for big things. Jimmy and a group of friends were confronted and attacked by a group of older boys at the annual Ark-La-Miss fair. Jimmy was beaten to death by those boys. The reports vary but it could have been as many as 7 older boys that surrounded and beat Jimmy Townsend to death. The murder of 13 year old Jimmy Townsend is still unsolved. Murrah building in downtown Oklahoma City. He had conspired with others to carryout this horrific act against his fellow Americans. April 19th, is also Patriot’s Day. In 1995 it was the sad two year anniversary of the conclusion of the Waco Siege resulting in the deaths of many American citizens. This too, would be that day that the state of Arkansas executed Richard Snell. Snell was convicted of hate crimes, murder, and a man who once conspired to blow up the Alfred P. Murray building.

After the war McVeigh had difficulties finding a new path for himself. Ultimately, he became enraged against the government that his soldier duties once served. He believed and told others that the U.S. government was in the process of taking away the freedoms of its citizens. Then Ruby Ridge happened and when the Waco standoff was in its early stages he was present, even giving an interview to a local reporter. These events were “proof” to McVeigh that he was right. All of his fears were coming true. Timothy McVeigh became America’s worst homegrown terrorist when he blew up the Alfred P. Murrah building in downtown Oklahoma City. What meaning did the Oklahoma City Bombing hold for Timothy McVeigh and beyond? Was it revenge? Was it the first act of a revolution? Was it a going away present for Richard Snell?

Weaver was wanted for failure to appear in court, facing illegal weapons charges. A series of errors created unnecessary bloodshed. Several people lost their lives on both sides of this standoff. The words Ruby Ridge have grown to be an “uncomfortable” phrase for many people, communities, and U.S. Government agencies. Ruby Ridge was much more than a big and deadly misunderstanding. Ruby Ridge was an abuse of power and forever shall be a stain on the agencies that abused their power.

In fact we see it everyday on the News, playing out before our eyes. Richard Wayne Snell was a white separatist and a white supremacist. His hate became criminal. He committed several hate crimes that resulted in the murders of innocent people. Unfortunately within certain groups throughout several states Richard Snell was looked at as a leader, an influencer, and a lone wolf. He was a bad man full of hate who preferred to operate alone but when his mission became overthrowing the U.S. Government it required that he work with others. He found friendship in several hate groups that operated far and wide, from Arkansas all the way out to Washington state. Richard Wayne Snell’s hate fueled more hate and that hate turned violent and deadly.

A few days later her friend traveled to Erin’s house looking for her. Her findings were alarming and concerning. She decided to report her friend missing as she feared the worst for Erin. What was known was that Erin had plans to meet a man from out of town that weekend. However after the Friday night answering machine message no one had heard from Erin and the days were dragging on. Days later, Erin’s body was found in a wooded area. Someone had placed her there and covered her with a blanket. Her case remains unsolved. There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to a conviction in this case. These are all names given to an unidentified serial killer that is responsible for four murders, maybe eleven unsolved homicides, and likely the number could be higher. These names refer to a series of murders that took place from 1996 to 2011 in which the remains of eleven people were found on the South Shore of Long Island, New York. From the public’s perspective, this all started when Shannon Gilbert went missing in the early morning hours of May 1, 2010. Her disappearance triggered the finding of four sets of remains off of Ocean Parkway at Gilgo Beach. These victims became known as the Gilgo Four. By May of 2011 police had discovered six more sets of remains in the area. But the truth is that this nightmare started long before Shannon disappeared. In 2023, an architect then 59-year old, Rex Heuermann was arrested and initially charged with three of the murders. Just this month he was charged with a seventh homicide. This week in the Garage, we talk about what the police found in Rex Heuermann’s home, specifically a planning document.
