John Stryker Meyer I will be your host today and I want to take a start

off with a section from the book Oncom and Valor and we have a story of a

Recon team that was on the ground.

R.T. California was October 20th and 1969. They were on the ground and they had been hit by enemy

fire. The 1-2 stubsbs, was killed in action by gunfire in the initial assault.

Three of the Montignars were wounded by AK-47 fire.

Dick Gross, who was the 1-0, the team leader, was hitting the neck by RPG Shrapnel.

They spent the rest of the day evading and hiding with survivors until the A1 Sky Raiders helped over the extraction choppers that pulled

RT California out.

And John Blow and R.T.C.

New York was sent in for a bright light the next morning.

But again, the critical factor here, that team was in trouble and it wasn't until the Sky Raiders,

the old A1 Sky Raider,

propeller driven plane arrived on the scene.

And the Stubbs was never recovered.

But that mission is one day in SAG. Today we're going to focus on a critical

mission that was January 5th 1970 with RT, which led to the team leader of Franklin Doug Miller being a recipient

of the Medal of Honor for actions on this day.
