This is the Bama podcast with Marty Solomon. I'm his co-host Brent Billings. Today we watch as

our Rabbi Jesus springs the kingdom to the brokenness of the world around him and see the surprising

responses of those who encounter it. Absolutely. Got an all done with the sermon on the mount,

we had to devote some attention to that. I feel like we should review the gospel of Matthew.

Get back to where we were at. I'm what I actually like to make a request.

I'm like feeling like we've been in this math you business for some time now. Yes we have.

And I'm feeling a little lost. I don't know how do you have that phrase work? You lose the forest

for the trees. For the trees? Yeah. Yeah. I'm never sure which one is like the part that I'm seeing

in which it's for the forest. I don't know. Anyway, we're talking about this grand narrative of

the scriptures. I feel like I've kind of lost perspective on it. So can we zoom out your

request and a full review from the beginning. Man, I used to do this every time I tell a class.

And now I haven't done it for a long time. So we're going to see if I got if I've still got the

magic. I better charge of this. All right, so we're going to go back to the beginning. We start

with a section called the preface. Genesis. People right now are going, no, you're not going to do this.

We are in fact, the Bama listeners buckle up. We got to we got to keep perspective. We got to keep

perspective. Start with a section in Genesis called preface chapters one through eleven. We encounter

that creation is good. And there's an invitation to trust the story and we find a bunch of people that

don't. The story ends in tragedy. That leads us to the introduction where we get introduced to

the family of God. Genesis 12 through 50. The rest of the book of Genesis, people like Abraham, Isaac,

Jacob, Joseph, and these are people that demonstrate that although they're not perfect, they can,

in fact, trust God. And so that leads us into the book of Exodus. It's really where the narrative

begins to call the narrative, the tale of two kingdoms, empire, versus Shalom. And we
