Jesus as he moves on from John the Baptist and begins to confront the religious world view around him.

More confrontation with the religious world view. It's Matthew's agenda. Looking out for the

mumsers. If he's going to look out for the mumsers, he's going to have to take care of this

religious world view that makes the mumsers in the first place. So we talk about Matthew's agenda.

I'm assuming this isn't the only way to read Matthew. Or maybe there's more to Matthew than this.

So if someone is interested in a different or wider perspective on Matthew or the

Gospels in general, I don't know if you want to throw out some recommendations, but just

just so we make sure we're covering the whole realm of possibilities for the listeners.

Yes, and I get a lot of emails asking for resources. Where do you find that? Where do you get that?

Lots of different questions. Lots of different answers to each specific question. But I'll give you

some Gospels in general. I don't know if I've actually read anything like directly as it pertains

to Matthew specifically. I have a Luke reference. We've actually quoted it used or linked it before,

if you will. Kenneth Bailey wrote a book and there's a two volume work. There's a two volume work.

Has both books in one book, if you will. Two books in one binding, through peasant size.

And then the second one is called Poet and Peasant. And a lot of Kenneth Bailey's focus is on

the Gospel of Luke. And so just some great work there as far as just Gospels and Ministry of

Jesus, especially in its context. Super great there. We've talked about Tuberberg's books before.

And we just linked those a few episodes ago, but just great introductory work along the same lines

is what we do here in the podcast. Love, Lois. She was taught by some of the same teachers I was.

And we're not to do just some incredible great things. So love her books. And if we do want to talk
