I'm Steve Boyette, and coming up is PodRunner's first mix of 2023, over an hour at 113 beats

per minute, called Supernal.

Sometimes I'll put a mix together, but I really don't have a sense of its flavor until

the first time that I listen to the whole thing.

It's like there's a part of my brain that knows exactly what it's doing, while the rest

of my brain sometimes just goes on vacation, which is kind of amazing and really weird.

In this case, I got to be very happily surprised when I listen to this mix, the same way that

I hope you'll be, because it's just gorgeous.

The first half is kind of ethereal, lots of emotion on a strong foundation.

It picks up a world music vibe, and then the world music picks up a funk vibe, and that

gets stronger right up to the end.

A lot of this is music you just don't get to hear on PodRunner very often, because

of the speed we're working at here.
