Welcome back to Catholic Answers live on this Easter Monday. I'm happy to say happy Easter to you, but it's also a day tinged with

sadness and reflection because of the passing of Pope Francis early this morning. Certainly

it was early this morning in California time. I think it was just around breakfast time in Rome.

But the two gentlemen here with me will help me with that. Today was going to be a flannel panel, and where Joe Heschmeier, Chris Check, and I wear

flannel shirts, and we talk about the news of the day from a Catholic perspective.

And we recorded it, and we were going to play it, but I think we'll play it Thursday.

Darren, we'll probably play it Thursday, because it wasn't

appropriate anymore, given the event. So we decided we'd come in today. It was actually a day

off for us here, but we decided to come in and talk about the day's events. And so Joe and Chris are here.

You know, I'm grateful to be here.

And yeah, you're right.

It just seemed wrong to have two hours of a Catholic take on the news and then not cover

the single most important news story.

Certainly I'm in the Catholic Church, probably just in global affairs right now.

And it was striking in its omission.

So those of you who tune in on Thursday, you'll be like, oh, they've avoided that issue for two hours, and now you'll know why, because we recorded it during Holy Week.

Yeah. We also avoided the word, Alleluia, and that was also because of when we recorded it.

Yeah, but I do think, I'm glad it'll play, especially, we talked a bit about Nicaragua, and I do think there needs to be, Catholics need to be publicly talking about, especially here in the

United States, frankly, where we have a lot of responsibility for the history of things in

Central America.
