Is she really going out of him? Oh! Ah! Ah! ... You're hearing new rows by the Damned, featuring my guest Rat Scabies on drums.

Formed in London in 1976, the Damned was an integral part of the first wave of punk rock,

and in fact was the first UK punk band to release a single, this song, and record an album.

Ratt's bombastic, rapid-fire style earned him comparisons to Keith Moon and Mitch Mitchell,

and helped the band become one of the most enduring and influential

of its generation. After participating on all of the band's landmark recordings, Rat left

the Damned in 1997. He subsequently opened a recording studio and continued to make albums

as a leader and with artists such as Glenn Matlock, Sonny Vincent, and Steve McKay.

Rat was also the subject of the 2005 book, Rat Skabies and the Holy Grail.

I spoke to him in Soho, London.

And now my conversation with Ratskabies.

I don't deserve somebody this great. conversation with Ratskabies. What did your father do?

Kind of formerly was an accountant, but he also had these two kind of stores,

both adjoined, and one was all kind of second-hand cameras and

stuff I mean stuff and the other one was kind of I suppose soft porn is how we describe it today

and so and hustle yeah that kind of you know but in those days there wasn't you know there was a different

thing about pornography so you know now you can buy stuff much much harder anywhere but you know back
