We're talking about the death penalty and the recent change made by Pope Francis in August of

2018 to the Catechism of the Catholic Church in paragraph 2267.

So today we're going to talk about how the idea of the death penalty goes back to the Old Testament, where it is explicitly commanded.

Also, we find it in the New Testament and we find it within Catholic

tradition all the way up until a few months ago.

Yes sir, yeah all the way up until late summer and you know what? Only then was it discovered that the death penalty is something. There was a fly in the ointment and there's something about it that we weren't thinking.

Right. Is it moral? So should we start with the actual paragraph and the changes or do you want to start with

Genesis? We got a lot to cover today.

And let's start with the actual 2267 itself.

Okay. Now we want to start.

Well, some people, well, some people, I mean, we're going to look at the old one, which allows for the death

penalty, but some people even thought that that paragraph was pushing things too far, that John Paul the second. that what previous popes and previous teachings. Would you agree with that?

Conditionally, it depends.
