The son of legendary comedian Supi Sails, Hunt began his drumming career at age 11, often working alongside his brother bassist Tony Fox Sales.

Hunt's bombastic, hook-laden playing has proven to be fundamental to several classic albums by artists such as Todd Rundgren, Iggy Pop, and Tin Machine.

Hunt currently lives in Austin where he leads his own band.

I spoke to him last year in a backyard in Portland, Oregon.

And now my conversation with Hunt's sales.

Yeah, we moved to Los Angeles right when I was about seven years old.

That's when I started playing drums.

I was at a recording session of my dad's, and Earl Palmer was the drummer.

And when I saw him play, that's when I knew what I wanted to do.

You knew it right away when you saw Earl.

Well, that's what I wanted to do.

I mean, some people don't stick with it.

You know what I mean?

But I have a daughter.

I've got two girls, one older one.

And when she was three and four and five, she was already painting and drawing.

And she's an artist now still.
