Summary

This episode is my response to Layne’s video about seed oils. Due to the pervasive mainstream support for seed oils, I believe it’s extremely important to shed some light on the hidden truth behind these oils. There is a lot of conflicting evidence on seed oils out there. Looking at the totality of the evidence can be very misleading, so we must look at the details. By thoroughly breaking down each trial from Layne’s video, we can see massive flaws in the methods and designs of each study. Trans fat consumption by the control group and multifactorial interventions in the experimental group were the primary confounding variables. In this video, Paul references several studies suggesting different ways in which seed oils are harmful to humans. He always appreciate differing views and these discussions because it’s how we all learn. He has hope that a respectful debate will happen in the future so that we can dive deeper into this important subject. He strongly believe that seed oils are evolutionarily inconsistent, these are not the fats that humans have evolved on. In fact, we have evolved by consuming ample amounts of animal fats, rich in saturated fats. Saturated fats have been shown to lower markers of heart disease and they are an amazing source of essential vitamins like A, D3, K2, E. It's always meat / organs / fruit / honey / raw dairy. This is an ANIMAL-BASED diet, and I believe this is the most optimal diet for humans on the planet. Check out my ANIMAL-BASED CALCULATOR here: https://www.paulsaladinomd.co/ab-guide

On this week's podcast, I wanted to do a full response to Lane Norton and his position on seed oils.

0:06.2

I hope that in the near future a formal debate will happen between Lane and myself

0:10.4

so we can discuss all of this in real time. But this is my position on seed oils

0:14.0

and a response to Lane's YouTube video.

0:16.0

This video is also going to be on YouTube.

0:18.0

So if you're listening on Spotify or other platforms

0:21.0

and you want to see all of these studies on the screen or you want to see my face

0:24.1

talking about all these things you can go over to YouTube and listen to the video there.

0:27.8

I hope that it will serve as a more comprehensive position on seed oils and that this would be the beginning of future conversations how we all learn

0:35.2

is through these respectful discussions.

0:37.6

And so in this video I wanted to respond to Lane's position and offer some other studies suggesting different ways that seed oils might be harmful to humans.

0:46.2

I'm going to try and make this one as succinct as possible.

0:48.9

A full seed oil's discussion slash debate will hopefully happen at some point in the future but I don't

0:54.0

think anyone wants to listen to two and a half hours of this so I'm gonna try and

0:58.2

keep this one high-level I'm gonna show studies to support my position and

1:01.6

response to many of Lane's points but hopefully a

1:05.2

full discussion will happen as I suggest. But first before you hate it like the video

1:09.3

subscribe to the channel and leave a comment all the algorithm. So let's start with the human randomized controlled trials. Lane has appropriately

1:17.8

pointed out that these are probably the first thing to look at. I will disagree with Lane's position which is that

1:24.3

when you look at the human randomized control trials as a whole they are neutral or

1:28.9

beneficial in favor of seed oils. I think the tricky thing here is that we're looking at a couple of meta analyses,

1:35.3

one by Hamley and one by Masafarian. And I'll show those meta analyses in a moment,
