And our film review this week, our film review is Asrael.

Asrael was released in 2024.

It has 3.4 out of 10 on IMDB

and 71% on Rotten Tomatoes. That is a huge disparity. In a world where

no one speaks, a devout female-led community hunts down a young woman who has escaped imprisonment.

Recaptured, Asrael is due to be sacrificed to an ancient evil in the wilderness, but fights for her own survival.

I think this film was another one that was a pleasant surprise, right?

Didn't know anything about it, never heard of it.

And I wasn't like blown away by it.

But I was engaged the whole way through.

So word of warning, if you are like me and you struggle to watch films, you've got to enter into this film in the right frame of mind because there is no dialogue in it. There is no talking. Therefore, there is no exposition of the story and you kind of spend the film trying to figure out what was going on, which I enjoyed. Okay. So I liked the concept a lot. This post-Rapture world where people have

been left behind and they've decided to renounce speaking. It's a really interesting concept.

And it means that they only communicate through sort of facial expressions, gestures. They don't

speak to each other. I did see a lot

of weird comparisons in reviews where people were trying to compare this film to a quiet place.

I just feel like it's a really unfair comparison and not remotely similar. Like in a quiet place,
