The Gabb National Park is located at Watson's Bay in the upmarket eastern suburbs of Sydney, Australia.

Amongst dense rain forest foliage and Norfolk pine trees, path winds along the ocean lookout,

which boasts spectacular views from the exposed coastline,

that drops off sharply to the Tasman Sea, which meets the Pacific Ocean.

Every year, on December 26, crowds of spectators flock to this prime vantage point

to witness a field of yacht and competitor sailing past, as the Fotilla makes its way down the east coast of Australia.

And the famous and grueling Sydney to Hobart Yaw race.

The waters off the Gabb can be treacherous and unforgiving along the sandstone cliff edge.

The jagged rock face has a steep drop to the flat wave caught ledge and rocks below,

which are lashed by rough swells of the ocean.

On winter evenings, you feel the brunt of the cold,

blowing up from the south, and the ocean is obscured by darkness.

The only sounds are the rushing and blustering winds, and the surf crashing on the rocks, 85 meters below.

For all its beauty and stunning views to the horizon, the gap has a darker and more melancholy side.

Looking back to the 1860s, floral tributes can regularly be found at the spot,

having been placed in somber commemoration by family and friends,

in memory of those who have taken their lives on the edge of the coast,
