Over the years, I have been surprised to learn that many of the rule changes made by the FAA are initiated, not by the FAA, but are instead dictated by Congress.

Last week, the president signed the FAA reauthorization Act of 2024 into law, and it includes changes that could affect all pilots, including big changes

for pilots flying under basic med, and also for CFIs, and for DPEs, that is, pilot examiners.

Stick around because I've sorted through the hundreds of changes listed in this bill,

and I've pulled out the ones that are most likely to affect you.
