Hello and welcome to Little Gold Men, Vanity Fair's podcast for film, TV, and awards lovers.

I'm David Canfield.

I'm Richard Lawson.

And I'm Rebecca Ford.

And so as one Oscar season ends, another one begins. As we do every year on Little Gold Men,

today we're going to do our ridiculously early look predictions. We're going to change things a bit

this year, though. Between the three of us, we've selected 36 films that we think will

either receive nominations for Best Picture, Director, or Acting, two from each of us in each category, and with the rule that we never double up on a film.

We did grant ourselves permission to include movies that are not dated, but at least start a production, so there's no guarantee.

Some of these will be contending this year, but we know that they exist.

That's our qualifier.

Basically, if you've posted any kind of can rumor on Reddit, I predicted it.

Richard was all over it, especially after how this year's Oscars went. So this year,

35 total feature films were nominated for Oscars, and that is including animated and

documentary features. So this list is guaranteed

to be quite wrong. But hopefully it at least paints us an exciting, broad picture of what the

awards landscape might look like in a few months before things start narrowing down. And who knows,

maybe some of these early calls will be right after all. I feel like we're totally right about this every single year.

I don't know what you guys are talking about.
