And today we're talking about four really fun but less common fabrics that you might

never have sewn with. So we're going to cover why we love these fabrics, the best way to use

them, including some ideas you've probably never heard of, and our favorite tips for sewing

with them if you want to give them a shot yourself. All right, so our icebreaker for today, Haley,

0:38.6

what's a risk you took on fabric recently? Is there something you made where you weren't sure how it would turn out

0:42.4

because of the fabric? You know what? I have to admit that I'm not super risky in a lot of my

0:49.0

fabric choices. I've sewn with a lot of like unusual fabrics in the past. But these days,

modification to work out better. For instance, in the summertime, we had the Reese swimsuit,

1:25.9

and I chose a rib-knit swimsuit fabric for

1:28.7

those samples. And we definitely had to, the fabric had a tendency to grow with sewing. And so we had to

1:35.9

make some modifications to make sure that the sample was actually fitting the dimensions of what the

1:43.0

pattern, the finished dimensions of what the pattern was supposed to be.

1:46.1

So that was a risk that wasn't the best, didn't have the best results.

1:50.6

But we did do a Greer dress a few months back in a rib, a sweater rib, which I felt like extra risky.

1:58.7

And that one worked out like beautifully.
