Hi this is Steve so this week we will see the release in theaters of one of the most

anticipated and talked about comedies of the year and when I say talked about well

Let's just say some of the things being said about this movie aren't very nice

I'm referring of course to the reboot of Ghostbusters starring Kristen Whig and Melissa McCarthy

so naturally on the cinnophiles it seemed like a good idea to check out the original.

We're talking about Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramus, Dan Acroyd, and Rick Maranus, all at the top of their game.

Joining us for this discussion is the brilliant, funny, and talented Victoria Garcia

Kellerher who will give us some great insights into the challenges of performing in a comedy.

And yes, we'll even spend a few minutes talking about whether or not women are actually funny.

spoiler alert. They are.

When John and I started this podcast, our goal was to explore classic films from every era in genre, but we also wanted to choose movies that connected to something going on in the world.

So the deaths of Mohammed Ali and Peter Schaefer led us to do podcasts of When We Were Kings and Amadeus. The controversy around Batman v Superman led us to the original Superman starring Christopher Reeve and now we're doing ghostbusters.

So for those of you paying attention you might have noticed that that's a bunch of movies clustered around the

late 70s and early 80s but I promise that's not the only era we like. In fact if

you don't believe me here's a little tease of what's coming up on the cinephiles.
