All right, I want to start by asking you a question.

Think back to when you were a young Ting,

and how did you navigate social media?

Well, for most of us, there was no such thing of what we now

know is social media. It's just so quickly evolved into a primary way that many of

us connect to people, entertainment, and news.

But this is especially true within the younger generation.

No matter how old you are, you probably

feel just a little bit out of touch with social media

when you talk to somebody who's just a bit younger than you.

And this makes it really difficult for parents, for youth leaders, and mentors to provide any

sort of direction on navigating the social media world with teenagers.

My guest today, James Talvert, is going to help us out with that.

James is a pastor and teacher who's been working with youth in a lot of capacities for most of his adult life.

He spent a lot of time with middle school kids, freshmen, sophomores from different

backgrounds, inner city and suburban. He has a front row seat to the social media habits of these kids.

He explains some of the challenges of being a young person at this moment and also has some great advice for us in wondering how to best disciple teens and

their understanding of smartphones and social media use. So grab your coffee and
