Hey friend, welcome to Java's Julie, hosted by me Julie Slattery.

This podcast is listener supported and it's an outreach of the ministry called

Authentic Democracy, which is dedicated to helping people make sense of God and

sexuality. Well when we start to recognize sin in our lives our natural

tendency is to muscle in with our behaviors and to try really hard to stop sending.

I've done it, you've done it, and unfortunately we probably know it doesn't work very well.

In fact, that strategy can lead to feeling discouraged and defeated in your relationship with

God. You know, the Christian life is not about behaving perfectly, but really is a call to have a posture of surrender.

Instead of trying harder, we need the Holy Spirit to take over every element of our lives.

That's the only way that we can live is we've been called to live. And that's what we'll be talking

about today. Hannah and I are going to be looking at the foundations of this

idea of surrender and scripture and the difference between struggling and surrendering and what it looks like to be a Christian

who resists the care and leading of the Holy Spirit.

So whether you are struggling with sexual sin, with pride, bitterness, whatever it might be,

I hope this conversation is really an encouragement to you.
