0:53.3	Air Force 4 star general, and the only man to have ever run both the NSA and the CIA. He did that
1:03.4	sequentially. He is currently a principal at the Chertoff Group, a security consultancy,
1:09.6	founded by the former Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, and he's also a professor at
1:16.0	George Mason University at the School of Public Policy, Government, and International Affairs.
1:21.2	And he's the author of the book, Plain to the Edge, American Intelligence in the Age of Terror,
1:28.0	which is well worth reading. And this was a slightly unusual interview for me in that it was a
1:35.0	straight interview. The General and I had some technical difficulties getting on Skype.
1:41.2	It was amusing not to be able to get on Skype with the former head of the NSA and the CIA.
1:47.2	So we had to conduct this interview on FaceTime, all of that wrangling took a little while,
1:53.4	and his schedule was tight. So I had about a half hour for this interview. So it could not be one
1:59.3	of my leisurely conversations. It was really just my questions and his answers, but I think you'll
2:04.8	find it interesting nonetheless. We talk about many things. We talk about the ethics of spine and
2:11.2	the trade-off between privacy and security, and we get into Edward Snowden and the consequence of
2:17.6	his leaks. And I also get General Hayden's opinion about the Russian hacking of the US election.
