As the deadline for a partial government shutdown approaches, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer says he opposes allowing President Trump to take more power via shutdown, saying he gives the president and Elon Musk-Carp-Blanche.

I will vote to keep the government open and not shut it down.

There is nobody in the world, nobody, who wants to shut the government down more than Donald Trump

and more than Elon Musk.

Yesterday, the House passed a measure that would keep the government running through the end of the fiscal year.

And earlier today, it appeared the Senate did not have the votes. A procedural vote could be held tomorrow

morning. A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to rehire thousands of probationary

workers let go in mass firings. The Bill Clinton appointed federal judge called the government's

arguments a, quote, sham, getting visibly upset in a San Francisco courtroom.

Judge William Alsup ruled that the government must immediately offer jobs back to terminated employees at the Treasury, Defense, Agriculture, Interior, Energy, and Veterans Affairs Departments.

According to the Fox News producer in court,

Alcip waived his finger at a government lawyer

telling the Justice Department attorney

that this case upset him.

He called it a, quote, sad day

when good employees would be fired on the false claim

of poor performance unions.
