The federal judge orders the government to justify its reasoning for not reversing the mistaken deportation of a Maryland man.

Judge Paula Zinis did not place the federal government in contempt for not facilitating the return of Kilmara-Bregal Garcia,

but ordered a process to discover why he's not been returned.

Garcia family attorney Rina Gandhi says they will submit questions

and the government must account for why Abrago-Garcia was taken.

From his home, his family, his children,

and taking no actions, no meaningful steps to fix that.

The Trump administration claims it cannot force another nation to release someone in their

custody and that to facilitate his return only means they must let Abrago Garcia in if he

arrives at the border.
