This is a Fox News alert. The suspect in custody. I'm Lisa Lacerra. The Leon County Sheriff's Department says the suspect in the deadly shooting at Florida State University in Tallahassee is someone they know.

Officials say the gunman 20-year-old Florida State University student Phoenix Eichner was neutralized and is in the hospital.

And he's a son of a Leon County Sheriff deputy.

Unfortunately, her son had access to one of her weapons.

And that was one of the weapons that was found at the scene.

Noting this was a handgun, but they were investigating what other weapons he may have had access to.

Police say two people who were not students were killed and six other victims were transported to the hospital.

Classes are canceled at the university through Friday.

Fox is Kristen Goodwin. A motive for the shooting is not yet known.

The bid by Lyle and Eric Menendez for shorter sentences has been delayed again because of disputes between the prosecution and the defense.

Menendez, attorney, Mark Garago, says they want district attorney Nathan Hockman to recuse himself from the case.

The family does not want to go through this charade anymore with the DA.

The brothers were sentenced in 1996 to life without parole in the 1989 killing of their parents.

Defense attorneys say they acted in self-defense after years of abuse by their father,

while the prosecution argued they killed them for their inheritance.

A new hearing is set from a 9th.

A federal grand jury in New York has

indicted Luigi Mangione, the man accused of gunning down United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson in

December on two counts of stalking a gun charge and murdered through the use of a firearm,

a charge that makes him eligible for the death penalty if convicted. Attorney General Pam Bondi has
