0:27.7 | Let's discuss two of my favorite treatments for SIBO, one of which are herbal antimicrobials, |
0:35.6 | and, excitingly, a study was just published comparing the herb |
0:40.4 | berberine to refaxamine, finding that for long-term resolution of sebo, the herb, berberine, |
0:49.0 | was actually more effective than the very popular antibiotic refaxamine. So we'll cover more on that study and also |
0:58.3 | another treatment that I think is very effective, the elemental diet and a corresponding |
1:03.4 | additional study published showing us how effective that treatment can be. Now if you have CBO, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, |
1:15.1 | or you've heard of CBO, you may already know that there are three types of gas that typically |
1:21.4 | become elevated, either hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide, or methane. |

1:46.0 | intestinal involvement, this might be why SIBO can be so problematic. Some evidence has shown that |
1:55.4 | bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine can actually damage the microvilli in a fashion that's similar to |
2:03.7 | celiac disease and so this can thwart the production of things like enzymes and might be part of the |
2:10.8 | reason why some people notice food intolerance this might be carbohydrate malabsorption or maldigestion due to the fact |
2:19.9 | that the villi secrete enzymes to digest those carbohydrates. |
2:24.6 | So there's a path here toward resolution if we can remedy the sebo. |
2:30.0 | And then beyond that, if there is this chronic inflammatory response in the intestinal tract, |
