Summary

Hey Podulters, I hope you’re well! In this week's episode I speak to the politics editor at gal-dem, Moya Lothian-McLean. We discuss which three things she wishes she had been taught in school, namely political philosophy, addiction and achievement myths. We talk a lot about social media, and the way that online discourse often dominates our perception of world events and compels us to form opinions on everything all the time, perhaps to our detriment. We also speak about fitness addiction, body image and dieting - so content warning for that. I hope you enjoy, as always please do rate, review and subscribe.

Hey, Pottletas. I hope you're doing well. In this week's episode, I speak to

0:05.2

Moyer Lothian McLean about what three things she wishes she had been taught

0:09.9

in school, namely political philosophy, addiction and achievement myths. We do

0:15.7

talk a lot about social media and the way the online discourse often dominates

0:19.6

our perception of the world as well. I found this conversation personally very

0:23.6

cathartic, so I love a lot of the things that Moyer writes and the way that she

0:27.1

talks about things. So I feel that I'm very rambly in this episode because I

0:31.9

quite selfishly were just loving talking to Moyer, but I hope the use of

0:35.5

running really enjoyable to listen to. It is a lot more of a conversation this

0:40.0

episode than interview, but I hope that's the one that's been told to listen to.

0:43.1

We do also talk about fitness addiction and dieting, so if that is going to be

0:47.9

triggering for you, I just thought I'd point that that does happen about halfway

0:51.2

through the episode. We actually recorded this episode prior to me doing a

0:55.9

post-enthusiom about having not really worked out and we talk about that in a

1:00.5

lot more depth when it comes to kind of like body privilege and other

1:04.4

privileges. So if you were following that when that happened online as well,

1:07.4

then this might add a bit more context for that. But I really hope that you

1:11.4

enjoy listening and do make sure to check out Moyer's writing on Galdem and

1:15.7

she also's on lots of TV programmes, doing interviews and stuff, so I'm sure

1:20.2

you've seen her around. Anyway, I hope you enjoy listening and as always, please do

1:24.6

wait for you and subscribe. Bye!
