One thing that we've talked about on this podcast many times before is the notion that the

Bible is a means to an end, and that the Bible is not the end in and of itself.

And this is why we can be diligently reading the Bible each and every day and memorizing scriptures

and yet still be so dry and feel so far from the Lord and just be miserable.

And if we were to go to the pages of Scripture, we could see from during the time of Jesus' earthly ministry

some of his strongest opponents were those who knew

the scriptures best, the Pharisees, right? Nevertheless, Jesus said of these people that they honor me with

her lips, but their hearts are far away. We could even look at the example of Satan, whenever

right? And so we see just scriptural

knowledge in and of itself is not enough. And so if you're like me, if you're anything like me,

then you have gone through seasons in your walk with the Lord where you have been diligent to read

the Bible, where you've gotten up and spent time in the Word of God,

and you might even be memorizing it, and yet you just feel shriveled up and dry,

and you don't feel close to the Lord.
