state into complete panic. On May 17, 1965, a man was born who would trigger fear across two

counties in Pennsylvania. So if you like your coffee hot, but your bones chilled, sit back and start your day with a morning cup of murder.

Richard Scott Baumhammers was born on May 17, 1965, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Lutheran Latvian immigrants,

who fled Soviet occupation and both now worked as faculty members at the University of Pittsburgh's

School of Dental Medicine. Opening their own successful practice, the family settled in the

suburb of Mount Lebanon and Richard, as far as the sources go, seemed to have a pretty

normal childhood. After graduating high school in 1983, he moved to Ohio and began attending Kent State

University, and later began law school at Cumberland Law School in Alabama.

According to his classmates, Richard was, quote,

gregarious, a good student, in the top third of his class.

After graduating from Cumberland,

Richard began a one-year international program

at the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California,

where he obtained his master's degree in transnational business practice and specialized in immigration and international law.

He then spent several years in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was listed with the International Law section of the Georgia Bar Association.
