I am from the deep south.

I serve a church in a small town in the deep south.

It happens to be a Baptist church. I am the only voice they

hear from the pulpit every week. I am the one that goes to the hospital beds and that visits people who are homebound and visits new babies in the hospital.

I don't know this man's name and you won't either. That's because he worries he'd lose his job if people found out about his secret.

I don't believe in the existence of hell, which I think would be a problem.

People have been fired, people's jobs have been threatened for a lot less.

I want to be a minister and I want to be a Christian

because I believe that God is all loving and all merciful and all powerful and all forgiving and I can't reconcile

that understanding of God with the understanding of a God who simultaneously condemns people to eternal damnation.
