All right folks. It's time to review a sub-400-dollar mountain rifle in 280-acly improved.

Now I've been teasing this, promising it, for several episodes now.

And we'll get started in that in just a minute.

But first, I want to address quickly a few questions and comments.

I really like how you mix the old and the new. It seems we find less and

less attention paid to a lot of these older models and calibers. Thank you for paying homage to the Savage 99.

In my opinion, it is a great gun and helps tame the early 20th century North Woods.

One cartridge I was kind of hoping you would hit on was the 3855 Winchester.

I'm currently using one in a model 1894 Winchester and to be honest I think it may be one of my new favorites.

This coming from a die-hard 4, 570, model 1886 guy.

With a little low development, it really shines as a mid-sized game gun within 200 yards.

when there's a whole bunch of really cool models to cover, you kind of have to perform a little

triage, you know? You have to eliminate a few of the least common, least significant, least popular, however you want to slice that particular situation, right?
