Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, wherever you are out there in this beautiful

world here in America, we are celebrating Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is actually a holiday we like a lot in my family because as many of you

know, my mother comes from a Native American background.

My grandfather left the reservation upstate New York, the Mohawk reservation to work

for Chrysler and raise a family and that is in my background.

This is one of those celebrations that actually celebrates Native Americans.

Very few celebrations do.

I think it's cool to reflect on this moment where all tribes, all peoples came together.

I was like, you realize this really does come from the Mayflower that only 53 of the pilgrims

had survived out of 102.

So they literally lost half of the people that came over on the boat and really had made

it through the winter only because many of the local Native Americans had come in and

helped feed them.

Squanto, could speak English, Squanto was from the local tribe who was appointed by a

Massasowit who was the king of the tribe in the area.

Squanto knew English because he had been captured and been a slave in Europe for a while.

It's amazing, you know, what types of things give you your knowledge but he was able to

translate.

This is just a writing by Edward Winslow who was there.

I'm just a quick paragraph describing that moment and it's really cool to just think

like this was written right there at that time.
