We're here to talk about chapters 51 to 62.

These are the seven years of the Amalekite War.

They range from the 25th year of the reign of the judges.

It's been a very short period of time since Mosiah said, let's no longer have kings, and yet much of

these problems over this seven-year war occur because there are people who still want to be

kings.

And the person who wants to be the king right now of both the Lamanites and the Nephites

is a Malachiah.

And we've got a new, a chief judge relatively. Pahoran is now the chief

judge. And so we have a weak state, more or less, in the central government, as we mentioned last time.

So that's a motivating factor here. We want to also, as we go through this, realize that these wars are largely personal wars, that people are fighting over things that they feel very strongly about or they're offended that they didn't get something.

There are a lot of these personal motivations, even though it involves the nation and a lot of people,

a lot can happen by a leader who goes in the wrong direction.

And when you get someone like Amalekiah,

Amalekiah, and all these A named people, right?

They're A-type people and they're very aggressive. And I think to step back and realize what's going on here, most of the people are good people,

and many of them are related.

But we have some wicked leaders who are really causing some horrific effects.

I think it's interesting, not only do these names start with an A,

but Amalekiah also has the MLK, which with the Hebrew word for king.
