throughout the Book of Mormon, you have the phrase, and it came to pass. In fact, if you

0:05.8

turn to page 350 and just look at the beginning of many of the verses, you'll see the phrase

0:11.1

and it came to pass. Now, we could have talked about this at the beginning of the Book of Mormon

0:17.3

year. We just decided to talk about it. Now, I want to share several perspectives

0:21.7

of why this is one of the most important phrases in the Book of Mormon. First of all, just the

0:27.2

literal perspective. And it came to pass, not and it came to stay, not and it came to linger

0:34.5

forever. It just came to pass. Whatever suffering you're dealing with

0:39.4

right now, it comes to pass. It comes for the purpose of passing. Everything we experience

1:20.7

tell you that the action is moving forward and not just to linger on any one single scene?

1:26.9

In ancient Hebrew, they would use this phrase.

1:30.2

Day, if you think about a good action film, one of the ways you know it's fast action

1:35.4

is there's lots of editorial cuts, like every couple of seconds there's a different angle

1:39.5

or a different view of what's going on.

1:41.6

In some ways, this is what the phrase, and it came to pass does. It

1:45.4

pushes the narrative forward. It tells you, I got to keep reading. There's more that's

1:49.8

happening. It's intended to encourage you to realize there's a lot of action going on in the

1:55.4

narrative to drive you forward in the storytelling. Now, this other idea, maybe a little bit speculative, but here's
