I'm Dom Betanelli and joining me today is Jimmy Akin. Hi Jimmy, howdy Dom.

On February 24th 1978, 42 years ago this coming Monday,

five young men in northern California drove to see a basketball game in a nearby town.

They were all excited to see the game and they were excited because the next day

they were going to compete in a basketball game in the Special Olympics.

But they never returned from their trip and what happened to them remains a mystery.

Four of them died and one of them simply vanished, but it seems that some of them lived

for months after their disappearance. A local police official described the case as, quote,

bizarre as hell, end quote. So what happened to them and how did they survive for so long before

eventually dying and that's what we'll be talking about on this episode of Jimmy Akin's Mysterious

World. Jimmy this mystery is sometimes called America's Diathlon Pass. Why is that? The Diathlon

Pass incident occurred in Russia back in February of 1959 and a group of nine young people were on a

hiking expedition in the snowy year old mountains, but they died at night under mysterious circumstances

and today no one can explain exactly why because of the weird aspects of the case. If you want to hear
